Watch: Why Jazbaa trailer is a 90s nostalgia hit with a green tint

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is back with the trailer of his much anticipated film Jazbaa. Starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff amongst others, the film is a remake of Korean thriller Seven Days. Trust Sanjay Gupta to transport you back to the era of 90s with the trailer, where you had something of everything, albeit overtly dramatic.

What is distinct in the video however, is that green tint throughout. Seems like Sanjay Gupta desperately wants us to believe in the idea of a 'greener' world. That's not how it works, Mr Gupta.

The trailer of the film starts with a phone call and one can hear Aishwarya Rai Bachchan introduce herself as Anuradha Verma, a seemingly successful lawyer. The film, however, tries to focus on her as a mother who is forced to fight a case in support of a criminal, guilty of rape and murder. Irrfan Khan, who is the only actor here not making a comeback, throws about some heavy 90s-styled dialogues. Sample this:

"Teri Amma ne jiske bare mein nahi bataya, main tera woh baap hoon..."

"Sharaft ki duniya ka kissa hi khatam, ab jaisi duniya waise hum"

Playing a suspended cop, he helps Ms Verma in her mission to rescue her daughter. What else? You can see Aishwarya screaming like never before, Ms Azmi crying like never before, and Irrfan playing a melodramatically intense character like never before. At least somewhat.

Here's the trailer.

Produced by Essel Vision, White Feather Films and Viking Entertainment, Jazbaa is slated for release on 9 October, 2015.
