IPL Betting Scam: Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan accepted he placed bets in IPL matches and lost; Interrogation underway

Accused in IPL betting scam, Arbaaz Khan, an actor turned filmmaker was summoned by the Thane Police in connection on Friday afternoon. Arbaaz has been reached at the Thane Crime branch for the questioning in the matter. During interrogation actor Arbaaz Khan accepted that he had placed bets in IPL matches last year and had lost Rs 2.75 crore, say sources.

Actor-producer Arbaz Khan appears before Thane Anti-Extortion Cell, he was summoned in connection with probe of an IPL betting case, news agency ANI tweeted.


The Thane police sent summoned Salman Khan's brother Arbaaz Khan at his Bandra-based residence on Friday afternoon. The 50-year-old actor was asked to be present during the probe as it needed to investigate the Mumbai-based scandal.

Interrogation is underway. After it concludes, the DCP will brief on the case says, Param Bir Singh, Thane Police Commissioner.

Sonu Jalan was held from Kalyan court in Mumbai where he had come to meet one of the arrested accused in the betting case. Jalan met the person to know about the investigation into the IPL case. When the cops were tipped about his meeting, it alerted the officers and laid a trap outside Kalyan court. During the investigation, it was revealed that Jalan was in contact with Arbaaz Khan. Jalan was first arrested in 2008 for betting during IPL. The police have also found pictures of him with Arbaaz Khan.

As per the TV reports, Arbaaz placed the bet through top bookies. Arbaaz was summoned after cops arrest top bookie.
