In 2007, Saawariya gave birth to one of Bollywood's future superstars: Ranbir Kapoor. The lanky boy dropped a towel, twinkled his eyes and suddenly there was a man who had girls swooning. Though the film tanked at the Box-Office, Ranbir Kapoor had arrived. His innocent smile did what bulging biceps could not. It got him a fan following, applause, accolades and acclaim.
The actor became the nation's heart-throb and his next film, Bachna Ae Haseeno, emerged a success despite a clash with Salman Khan's God Tussi Great Ho. Suddenly, Ranbir was one of the most bankable stars in Bollywood. After being a part of two diametrically opposite films in the early days of his career, the actor cemented his position with Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kaahani.

Ranbir has never been one to choose the easy road to success. After Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kaahani, he was seen in Shimit Amin's critically acclaimed Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year, which also got him the Filmfare Best Actor Award.

For Ranbir, 2011 was a game changing year. In Barfi, as a deaf and mute guy, he delivered one of the finest performances of the year. In the same year, he came up with Rockstar, another landmark performance of his career. He simply owned Jordan!

After experimenting in Rockstar and Barfi, he returned to the adorable lover boy character in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and everyone knows the kind of appreciation the film got. Unfortunately, he hit a rough patch after that with back to back flops. However, if we observe Ranbir's characters in each, be it Besharam, Roy or Bombay Velvet, the actor has tried to infuse life and freshness to each. It would not be wrong to say that the scripts were not up to the mark and Ranbir's acting prowess paid a price for it.
With Tamasha, one is all set to welcome Ranbir Kapoor back with a huge hit.
His upcoming films belong to diverse genres as well. While Jagga Jasoos is a fantasy in which he will be seen as a detective, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is a mature love story which requires Ranbir to come up with an intense performance. He will also be seen as Sanjay Dutt, in Rajkumar Hirani's biopic on the actor which is tentatively titled Dutt, alongside Ayan Mukerji's superhero film rumoured to be titled Dragon.
