First Irrfan Khan and Tabu were offered to play Ayushmann Khurrana's parents in Badhaai Ho!
The director of Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha starrer film Tevar is once again coming out with his second outing Badhaai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana Sanya Malhotra in the leading roles. The film is already in the discussions for its unusual topic and content. Now the director of the film revealed that earlier Tabu and Irrfan Khan were the first choices of the elderly couple role.
"We approached Tabu mam in the beginning as we thought she would be nice in the role. But she's the one who suggested Neena mam's name and said 'You need someone slightly older, so that when people see her getting pregnant, there's this disbelief'," Amit Sharma told PTI.

Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao will now be seen playing the elderly couple in the film who have an elder son Ayushmann Khurrana. "There is an age difference between the two and I liked Tabu's suggestion. Neena mam is perfect for the role," he added.

Amit Sharma who directed more than 1500 ad films and saw failure from his directorial debut film says that he learnt a lot from the failure of Tevar. The film Badhaai Ho is supposed to release on 19th October 2018.
