While gossip columns like to believe that there are no friends in Bollywood, the reality is exactly the opposite. There are stars in Bollywood who have been friends for over 25 years and are still going strong. There have been ups and downs in many friendships, but at the end of the day everyone has respect for the other.

As the first Sunday of August arrives, we celebrate International Friendship Day by revisiting what Bollywood stars had to say about their best friends:

Shah Rukh Khan-Aamir Khan-Salman Khan

Shah Rukh Khan: "I find talks like these (Clash of Khans) really boring. And I think even Salman and Aamir feel the same. There should be an acceptance that three of us have been working for a long time now. Thank you very much. We all do well in our respective films and fields. Thank you very much. We all three are different people. Thank you very much. And we all three are friends. Thank you very much. Now, beyond that, if anyone wants to talk about a clash, or underhand matters, we have never done it."

Aamir Khan: "I have great respect for Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Both Salman and Shah Rukh are really very huge stars and we all have been in Bollywood since a long time. People like our work and I don't think fans should fight for these spots on social media websites."

Salman Khan: "Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan hate their fans fighting on twitter for these numbers one, two and three spot and so do I. So my fans please don't let me down. Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are my friends. Bhaad main gaya yeh number one, two, three spot. (Let these rankings go to hell)"

John Abraham - Akshay Kumar

John Abraham: "When I signed Welcome Back, I called up Akshay and I gave him the news first. He was very happy and said, 'It's a great film to do'. During Hera Pheri 3, I told him about it and he is a friend, we have worked together before. We are good friends. There is no animosity between us."

Jacqueline Fernandez-Sonam Kapoor

Jacqueliine Fernandez: "Sonam is one of the most genuine honest people I know and that's why I always wish the best for her! She's inspired me a lot with her impeccable fashion sense and dedication to her work."

Sonam Kapoor: "Jackie's got a clean heart. She has no agenda whatsoever. We have the same sense of fun and values. She's part of my family now. Shehla Khan, Jackie and I are really close. I love Jacqueline a lot."

Arjun Kapoor - Ranveer Singh

Arjun Kapoor: "Chemistry.it's a word I hate for two friends. Ranveer and I, we were friends before we became actors and I think that's why the communication that we had at that point of time, has carried on. Chemistry is not the word for it. What two friends have, is a bond. They have emotions towards each other; they have an understanding with each other. Whatever we have is primarily out of the fact that we know each other as people before we know each other as actors or stars. We know each other as individuals, and that allows you to be more comfortable with each other."

Ranveer Singh: "If the law permits me to do so, I would love to marry Arjun Kapoor."

Karan Johar - Twinkle Khanna

Karan Johar: "I know I have said this a million times, but Twinkle Khanna is truly my favourite celebrity on Twitter. She is my spirit animal, my girl crush and everything amazing in the world."

Karan Johar has been fond of Twinkle Khanna since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai days as Twinkle Khanna was his first choice for Tina's character in the film
