Brahmastra countdown begins: Here are Ranbir’s top five highest 1st-day box office collections

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, a versatile actor, is popular among movie-goers for his charming looks, and amazing acting skills. With an impressive career in the Bollywood industry spanning more than a decade, Ranbir has managed to captivate people’s hearts with his mesmerizing performances.

The Sanju actor has offered his fans several reasons to treasure his performances. In films such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), Rockstar (2011), and Barfi (2012), Ranbir has exhibited his acting skills.


Kapoor has made his acting debut in 2007 with Saawariya. After this, he never looked back and managed to churn out blockbusters year after year. And now, the Wake Up Sid actor is all geared up to enthrall the movie-goers with his upcoming action-adventure flick Brahmastra Part One: Shiva.

As the countdown begins for Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, here are Ranbir’s top five highest first-day box office collections:

Sanju (2018): Based on the list of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, the movie collected about Rs 34.75 crores at the box office on its opening day. Directed by Raju Hirani, the movie has Ranbir essaying the role of Sanjay Dutt.

Besharam (2013): Directed by Abhinav Kashyap, the movie is about a car thief who falls in love with a woman whose vehicle he has stolen. The action-comedy flick collected about 21.56 crores at the box office on the first day.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013): The movie narrates the tale of friendship. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the Romance/Drama flick was much appreciated by critics and audiences for its ‘out of the box’ storyline. The movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, collected about 19.45 crores on the first day.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016): The movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, explores love- and the shape its takes. However, the Romance/Musical flick received backlash from some sections of the society but managed to earn 13.30 crores on the first day.

Tamasha (2015): Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the movie is all about the journey of someone who has lost his edge in trying to follow acceptable conventions of society. The movie earned about 10.94 crores on its opening day. The comedy-drama also featured Deepika Padukone in the female lead.
