Aishwarya Rai - Randeep Hooda's Sarabjit Biopic release date announced

This seems to be the year of biopics. Apart from sports-based biopics like Azhar, Dhoni: The Untold Story, Dangal, among others, director Omung Kumar is busy shooting for another biopic, this time on Sarabjit Singh.

The film, which went on the floors in November 2015, is set to release on 19 May, 2016. In fact, it will release on Thursday as against the conventional Friday release.

Who is Sarabjit

Sarabjit Singh is an Indian farmer who was convicted of spying in Pakistan, and was sentenced to death. While serving his term in prison, he was attacked by fellow inmates and died in Lahore.

In the film, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen essaying the character of Sarabjit's sister, Dalbir Kaur. The actress will be seen in a complete de-glam avatar.

Randeep Hooda will be seen in the titular role and Richa Chadda is rumoured to play Sarabjit's wife in the film.
