Many people risked their own lives to save the life of animals. Recently, a man from Indonesia has put his life at risk, not just for any domestic animal but for a crocodile.

Crocodile is one of the dangerous reptiles and humans generally stay away from it. But, this man didn’t hesitate before helping the ferocious predator.

According to reports, a saltwater crocodile in Indonesia had a tyre stuck around its neck for six years. Because of this brave man, the crocodile has now been freed on the island of Sulawesi. The man is a local resident.

Many people tried to rescue the reptiles, including the crocodile wrangler and National Geographic TV presenter Matt Wright, who also flew to Indonesia in 2020 but was unsuccessful.

Finally, a local resident named Tili has removed the tyre from the crocodile’s neck.

"I caught the crocodile by myself. I was asking for help from people here but they were scared," Tili, 35, told Reuters.

He rescued the croc by setting up a basic trap with a rope tied to a log and used live chickens and ducks as bait. He tried to capture the crocodile twice but it managed to escape.

Tili revealed that people were sceptical and thought that he won’t be able to capture the reptile. But, when he trapped the crocodile, he used a saw to remove the tyre.

"I just can't stand to see animals hurt. Even snakes, I will help," Tili said.

The reptile, which local people had referred to as "buaya kalung ban" (crocodile with a tyre necklace), was released back into the river on Monday evening.
