An Indonesian plane carrying 189 passengers on board crashed into the sea minutes after the take-off from Jakarta. Now a fresh report has came-up that the captain flying the plane that crashed was an Indian national. The pilot identified as 31-year-old Bhavye Suneja from Delhi. He had joined the Indonesian carrier, Lion Air, seven years ago.

The accident took place while flying from Jakarta to Pangkalpinang, according to the nation’s rescue agency. Meanwhile, the crash information has been confirmed by the spokesman for the agency via text message to Reuters.

The plane was commanded by Captain Suneja and co-pilot Harvin with six cabin crew members. Suneja has 6,000 flight hours and the co-pilot more than 5,000 flight hours, the airline said in a statement.

Captain Suneja was a resident of Jakarta. He had attended Ahlcon Public School in Delhi's Mayur Vihar area. As per reports, the Boeing 737 Max 8 carrying 189 people are believed to have sunk after crashing into the sea soon after take-off.

According to a rescue agency, the ground controllers lost contact with the plane 13 minutes after take-off, and a tugboat leaving the capital's port saw it fall into the sea.
