On 20 July, Donald Trump emerged as Republican presidential standard-bearer and secured the party's 2016 nomination. Trump will now face Democrat Hillary Clinton in the November 2016 Presidential run for the White House.
After being nominated, Trump took to Twitter to express his gratitude. He tweeted, "Such a great honor to be the Republican Nominee for President of the United States. I will work hard and never let you down! AMERICA FIRST!"

Republicans also placed in nomination for Indiana Governor Mike Pence, for Trump's vice-presidential running partner.
According to a report in Times of India, Trump's campaign hoped that the formal nomination would dissolve the discord of plagiarism charge which involved Melania Trump's address.
With three of his children by his side on the stage, Donald Trump Jr said, "It is my honour to be able to throw Donald Trump over the top in the delegate count tonight. Congratulations, Dad. We love you," Reuters quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, Trump's rival Hillary Clinton tweeted her response to Trump's nomination. She said, "Donald Trump just became the Republican nominee. Chip in now to make sure he never steps foot in the Oval Office."
