Election Results 2016: Karunanidhi wins Tiruvarur constituency, son Stalin retains Kolathur

While AIADMK chief J. Jayalalitha is set to retain power in Tamil Nadu, DMK chief M Karunanidhi breaks his own record by winning 13th time consecutively by registering a comfortable lead by margin of 60,000 votes over AIADMK's ANR Paneerselvam in Tiruvarur constituency in Tamil Nadu.

Additionally, his son MK Stalin has won from Kolathur constituency in Tamil Nadu with a margin of over 12,000 votes.

Stalin was seeking a second term in Kolathur, a labour-dominated area in North Chennai, that he has assiduously cultivated in the past five years.

According to the latest Election Commission data, AIADMK is leading in 126 seats and DMK in 106 out of 232 constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
