It\'s a widely known fact that super stars films often release with over-priced tickets in Chennai, especially during the opening weekends. From Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Vikram to Ajith, Vijay and Suriya, almost all Tamil superstars\' films are released with inflated ticket costs. For instance: In 2015, when Shankar\'s I released, the actual ticket price on it\'s opening day was Rs 120. Unfortunately, a section of the audience had to pay a huge amount to watch the Vikram starrer as the opening day tickets were sold in the range of Rs 1,000 - Rs 5,000 throughout the weekend due to ticket scalpers.Theri, the most anticipated Tamil film of the year is releasing on 14 April, 2016. The second directorial venture of Atlee stars Vijay in a double role. But the good news for cinema lovers is that the Madras High Court has ordered Chennai City Police Commissioner to monitor over-priced tickets in Chennai. Reportedly, the Police Commissioner has appointed special teams including an assistant commissioner, commercial tax official and revenue official to monitor the cinemas in Chennai and nab ticket scalpers. As per an official statement from the Chennai City Police, a complaint about overpriced ickets can be filed on the helpline 044-23452359.
