South actress Raai Laxmi's Bollywood debut Julie 2 was released with high expectations. The film, directed by Deepak Shivdasani, is a sequel to his 2004 Bollywood erotic thriller hit Julie, which starred Neha Dhupia in the main female lead. Julie 2 is said to be the 50th film of Raai Laxmi, who had earlier appeared in an extended cameo in AR Murugadoss - Sonakshi Sinha film Akira.

Though the film was promoted as a full fledged erotic thriller, Julie 2 failed to live up to the expectations at the Box Office. In fact, Raai Laxmi's Bollywood film couldn't gain audience from day 1 at the Box Office. Be it in North India, Tamil, Telugu or Kerala markets, Julie 2 turned out to be a disaster at the Box Office.

After the dismal first week performance of Julie 2, Raai Laxmi has opened up about what went wrong with the film.

"I think people expected Julie 2 to be a sex film and there was no sex in it. It was largely promoted in that manner. Remember the first teaser? Moreover, if you see, I never said anything in my promotional interviews that suggested that the film was laden with sex. Also, the critics were too harsh on this film. Flops are part and parcel of being in the industry and should not be made into a big deal. The delays in making the film and the release date also worked against the film", Raai Lakshmi said.

Interestingly, the 'Sanskari' Pahlaj Nihalani, who was recently removed from the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) as chief, was the distributor of Julie 2. The film also starred Ravi Kishan, Aditya Srivastava, Pankaj Tripathy and Rati Agnihotri.
