Mohanlal starrer Pulimurugan which released on 7 October 2016 is not just breaking records at the Box Office. It's setting new benchmarks almost everywhere.

After beating the top South Indian blockbusters like SS Rajamouli's Eega, Ajith's Vedalam and Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Kaththi, the Lalettan starrer has now set an unbelievable record for Malayalam film industry. Pulimurugan has crossed the lifetime collections of Allu Arjun blockbuster Sarrainodu to become the fourth highest grossing South Indian film of 2016. It's worth mentioning that this is the first time a Malayalam film entering into the top-5 grossing South Indian films of the year.

At Rs. 129 crore, the Mohanlal starrer is now only behind his own Telugu blockbuster Janatha Garage (Rs. 135 crore), and Tamil films Theri (Rs. 175 crore) and Kabali (Rs. 350 crore) among the top South Indian films released this year. It's a remarkable achievement considering that Malayalam films normally release in the range of 750 - 1000 screens worldwide.

Directed by Vysakh and produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam, Pulimurugan also stars Lal, Vinu Mohan, Kamalini Mukherjee, Namitha and Jagapati Babu.
