Actress Shakeela is touted as the second most popular sex siren of South Indian cinema after the late Silk Smitha. She had acted in films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages. The veteran actress debuted at the age of 20 in a Tamil soft porn film, Playgirls.

Kannada director Indrajith Lankesh is all set to make a film on the actress. Reportedly, the director is in talks with Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi play Shakeela in the biopic film. The film will be made simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.

Shakeela emerged as a superstar in Malayalam film industry in early 2000; thanks to her career-defining hit Kinnarathumbikal. The film, a 2000 blockbuster, was made on a small budget of Rs 12 lakh by A Salim under the banner of Miyami Productions, went on to collect a massive Rs 4 crore at the Box Office.

The film was a rocking success and later got remade in all South Indian languages. The craze for the film was so high that it was later remade in Nepalese, Chinese, and Sinhala. Following the success of Kinnarathumbikal, the soft-porn actress acted in 25 plus soft-porn movies, out of which most of her films met with success at the Box Office. Few of her films even outperformed the films of big M's of Mollywood -- Mammootty and Mohanlal, at that time.

However, Shakeela stopped doing adult-rated films and is currently taking up only comedy roles in Tamil movies.
