Exclusive: Akshay Kumar might produce a Kannada film with friend Ramesh Dembla

Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan have always shown great interest in remaking South Indian films. In fact, most of their recent hits were actually the remakes of South Indian films. Akshay Kumar even bagged an important role in Shankar's upcoming Tamil magnum opus, Enthiran 2 with mega star Rajinikanth. The Bollywood Khiladi will be playing the antagonist role in the film.

And now, South Indian fans of Akshay Kumar have a reason to celebrate as the actor is all set to produce a South Indian movie soon. The Padma Shri actor, who is currently awaiting his upcoming Friday release, Rustom, will be soon be producing a Kannada film along with his close friend and Bangalore-based designer, Ramesh Dembla.

In an exclusive interview with Catch, Ramesh Dembla had revealed that they are planning to make a Kannada film together. The talented designer also stated that he is waiting to finalise everything to confirm the project soon.

Speaking to Catch, he told:

"Yes, Talks are on! Me and Akshay are planning to produce a Kannada film together. I will confirm when everything is finalized."

As per our sources, both are planning to produce a Kannada-Hindi bilingual film, to be directed by Nanda Kishore. Kannada superstar Rajkumar will essay the lead role in Kannada version while Akshay Kumar himself lead in the Hindi version.

The film is slated to go on floors in February 2017 and will hit the screens later next year.
