West Bengal Rath Yatra row: Barred from taking out Rath Yatra, BJP moves Supreme Court against Calcutta HC verdict

In a major development, The Bhartiya Janta Party, who has been barred from taking out Rath Yatra in Mamata Banerjee-ruled West Bengal, the saffron party moved Supreme Court against Calcutta High Court verdict. The BJP's "Save Democracy" rath yatras in West Bengal was not granted permission by the court ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Reportedly, the BJP had planned to launch "Save Democracy" yatras from three different locations in the West Bengal, crisscrossing it before converging in Kolkata.


Earlier, the Rath Yatra was allowed by the single bench order of the Calcutta High Court and BJP had sighed a relief but the Trinamool Congress had moved to the chief justice bench and sought time regarding the matter.
