Udit Raj doubts SC's involvement in poll rigging after court rejects Oppn’s VVPAT demand

The opposition has demanded to verify VVPAT slips of randomly selected polling stations before the counting of votes polled in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election begins on May 23.

Earlier, leaders of 21 political parties have demanded that if any discrepancy is found during VVPAT verification, then 100 per cent counting of that particular assembly segment’s VVPAT’s paper slips of all polling stations should be done and it should be compared with the EVM results.

In meeting with the EC on Tuesday, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said: "We told the EC that the VVPAT machines should be counted first and if there is any discrepancy, then all of them in that segment should be counted.”

Reportedly, multiple videos of EVMs being moved and stored from one unauthorised storage house to another surfaced on social media, triggering questions. The opposition claimed to tamper of voting machines as videos showed the movement of EVMs in UP and Bihar.

Squashing the Opposition’ claim, the poll panel said: “the EVMs were in proper security and protocol”.
