All Party meeting of BJP's Executive Committee underway

The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Sumitra Mahajan, is holding 'an All Party Meeting' of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament on 20 July.

Previous meeting

  • On 19 July, top leaders of the BJP had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence to discuss party strategy to be pursued during the upcoming Parliamentary session.
  • Union ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj, along with BJP President Amit Shah, were among those who were present in the meeting.

Why the meeting?

The meeting has been called in order to discuss the strategy for the monsoon session of the parliament as the government will be likely targeted by the Opposition parties on various issues like the Vyapam scam, Lalit Modi controversy and the Socio Economic and Caste Census.
