Uttar Pradesh tops in number of attacks on journalists: Government

As many as 113 cases were registered and 30 people arrested for attacks on journalists in different parts of the country in 2014, Rajya Sabha was informed on 12 August.

In reply to a written question, Minister of State for Home, Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said "The highest number of such cases (63) were registered in Uttar Pradesh where four persons were arrested in this connection last year.

Adding on he said "Bihar has registered 22 such cases in which three people were arrested while Madhya Pradesh registered seven cases in which 10 people were arrested and Maharashtra registeres five cases and 6 people were arrested".
