In under 48 hours of announcing an alliance between BJP and Shiv Sena, the latter has threatened to pull out of the poll arrangement mentioning a state of confusion over the post of Maharashtra CM.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has courted fresh row after an alliance with saffron party, demanding that in the upcoming Assembly elections, the Chief Minister’s post will be shared for 2.5 years between the two party’s.

In a clash of opinion, BJP’s Chandrakant Patil had stated that the CM’s seat will not be shared and would eventually go to the party for a full 5 year term whosoever secures more seats in the polls.

Although on Tuesday, Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray informed his party men that he has struck a good deal with the BJP over the CM’s post. He said, “The CM spoke of equal distribution of portfolios and power, this means I have brought (the two parties) on the same platform.”

Thackeray added, “For the last 25 years, we were following a formula which said that whoever wins the most number of assembly seats will have its chief minister, but I have not accepted that formula. Our dream is to have our own CM.”

Both the parties have agreed upon the 50:50 formula over the upcoming Lok Sabha and State Assembly polls but the Shiv Sena has been involved in criticizing the BJP over several issues like agrarian crisis, unemployment and construction of Ram Mandir.

An attempt to threaten the BJP again for the CM’s post might act as a deterrent for the Opposition as Maharashtra will not be a cakewalk for the BJP-Shiv Sena because of the Congress-NCP alliance.
