Setback for Delhi Private Schools as SC sets aside plea on nursery admission

In a major setback to Delhi's private schools, the Supreme Court on Monday set aside their plea challenging the Delhi High Court order on nursery admissions.

The plea filed by a private schools challenged the nursery admission guidelines issued by the then Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in December 2016.

As per the new set of guidelines approved by the Lt. Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, all applicants living in the neighbourhood of the school will be given priority over those living further away.

Apart from this other pointers includes no preference to girl child and guidelines for sibling in the same school.

The admission process for nursery classes has started from 15 January and will continue till 31 January.
