
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is al set to visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on 1 May - for the third time this year - will launch solar-powered boats and distribute around 1,000 e-rickshaws.
After Varanasi, he will leave for Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh and launch the Rs 8000 crore Padhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). The scheme aims to provide 5 crore free LPG/cooking gas connections to women from Below Poverty Line families.
The scheme will utilise the funds saved from the 1.13 crore cooking gas users who volunteered to give up their subsidies.
The Prime Minister will then fly back to Varanasi where he will preside over a function to distribute 1,000 e-rickshaws to beneficiaries at the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) grounds.
The PM will also visit the Jnana Pravaha, a center of cultural studies and research in the Samne Ghat area. He will later head to the Assi Ghat, where he will launch 11 solar-powered 'e-boats'.
