All the martyrs in the Pathankot terror attack displayed bravery and sacrificed their lives for the nation by holding their ground. According to reports, the martyrs include Havaldar Jagdish Chand from the Defence Security Corps (DSC) - who also worked as a cook at the Pathankot Air force base. Chand was reportedly working in the kitchen when the terrorists entered the base.
Chand reportedly challenged the attackers and managed to snatch a rifle from one of them before killing the terrorist. However, the other attackers fired at him and Chand succumbed to his injuries.
The martyr, who hails from Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, is survived by his wife, a son, and two daughters. According to reports, Chand had returned to the camp a day before the attack - after a 10-day long leave.
