Two BSF jawans were injured and a civilian was killed in another ceasefire violation by Pakistani rangers in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district on 15 July.
- According to media reports, the Rangers opened fire on a BSF constable guarding a border outpost along the International Border in Akhnoor sector.
- As BSF troops tried to evacuate the injured jawan in a vehicle, they were heavily fired by Pakistani Rangers.
- The BSF troops retaliated, resulting in exchange of fire which was still going on when last reports came in. The injured jawan has been hospitalised.
This is the second case of ceasefire violation since 9 July in which a BSF jawans was killed in firing by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control in Baramulla sector of North Kashmir.
- On 14 July, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, "Army will give a "befitting" reply to Pakistan in case of violation of ceasefire".
