Maharashtra BJP positive of victory, orders 5,000 laddoos ahead of counting

Optimistic of successful outcome in the recently concluded Maharashtra polls, the state BJP has already placed a huge order for 5,000 laddoos and garlands before the vote counting. According to news agency PTI, the BJP has also assembled a colossal display on the site of its Mumbai headquarters, so supporters can witness the proceedings leading to their desired ending.

The cause for their transports of delight is easy to understand, given that the exit polls have forecasted an impressive win for the state BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. While TV-9 Marathi claimed that it will win 197 of 288 seats, the CNN News 18-IPSOS poll forecasted a overwhelming majority with 243. An aggregate of all the 11 exit polls exhibited them triumphant in 211 seats, faintly less than the 217 they currently hold.

BJP party workers have been urged to reach the party headquarters in south Mumbai after 10 am, when the initial poll swings are presumed to come out. The jollification could commence by noon, relying on the results of the counting. "We know that we are returning to power. We are only curious about the numbers," PTI quoted a party leader as saying.

Maharashtra, which had gone to polls on 21st October, saw a voter turnout of 61.13 percent.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had gone to Kedanath shrine in Uttarakhand to offer prayers on Wednesday. "Took darshan and blessings at Kedarnath temple this morning. Har Har Mahadev!" he tweeted, sharing photographs of his visit.
