Karnataka Floor Test: Big blow to BJP! BS Yeddyurappa admits he contacted Congress MLAs to debar JDS' father-son duo come to power

As JDS-Congress' Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy moved the motion of confidence on the floor of the House BJP's BS Yeddyurappa makes a shocking statement during the motion of confidence. The Opposition leader, Yeddyurappa who accidentally called Siddaramaiah “Chief Minister” which led to the whole house breaking into laughter said, “What happened to Siddaramaiah was a tragedy”. The BJP leader said also said he contacted Congress MLAs, to debarred the father-son duo from coming to power.

He also told DK Shivakumar that he will change his name if the father and son (HDK and HDD) doesn't destroy the Congress party. “I hope for the best for the coalition government and enlightenment for the Congress party,” said Yeddyurappa.


Yeddyurappa alleged that there are several charges of corruption against the Gowda family. He warned that the JD(S) had betrayed BJP in the past and may do the same with Congress, reported News18.

BJP leaders walked out of the Karnataka Assembly after BS Yeddyurappa said the party would hold a state-wide bandh on 28 May, if CM HD Kumaraswamy did not waive off farmer loans, reports, The Quint.

Reiterating BS Yeddyurappa’s stance, BJP leader R Ashoka said, “We walked out on the issue on farmers’ loan waivers. We will hold state-wide bandh 28 May. We will be aggressive now.”

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy won the floor test after 117 MLAs voted in his favour, moment after BJP left the house.

"I have listened to Mr. Yeddyurappa's speech carefully. But he has given wrong information and used impolite words in the house. I will not indulge in personal attacks. Listening to him, I feel the people will not give the BJP power and his speech was perhaps a rehearsal for some drama company,” The Hindu quoted Kumaraswamy as saying.

Newly-elected Speaker KR Ramesh Yeddyurappa announced BJP legislature party leader BS Yeddyurappa was recognised as the Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Assembly. Govind Karjol would be the deputy opposition leader, Kumar said.
