Fake call center busted in Noida by UP police and FBI as the company duped a US citizen for $ 50,000

In a recent investigation conducted by the Uttar Pradesh police and the FBI, a fake call center has been busted in Noida which duped a US citizen for 50,000 $.

India had earlier become a call center hub in the 2000’s when most of the Business Process Outsourcing companies had clouded over due to cheap and skilled labor force and the market boomed thereadter.


In this case, more than 126 employees were working in the fake company which has duped a citizen of the US, and the company made more than 50,000 $ a day.

The suspects in the case who were arrested have told the police that they would tell the Americans that there were security issues and problems in their social security numbers and in return to fix it, they would charge heavy money.

One caller, who recorded the audio said, “Your warrant is on my desk and if this issue is not resolved we will have to freeze your account and put you behind the bars,” as reported by AFP.

The police official have said that “Many responded to the call and fell for their trap.” The suspected call center has been functioning from last three years and around 300 computers were seized after the police raided the premises, situated in Noida.

Earlier, in April 2017, the police had arrested the mastermind behind the racket, a person named Sagar Thakkar, 24 years-old, who was approximately making a whopping 155,000 $ per day, which turns out to Rs 1.1 crore in Indian currency.
