Film Producer Kareem Morani on 23 September surrendered before the police in connection with a molestation and rape case.

This came after the Supreme Court yesterday denied his anticipatory bail.

A case was registered against Morani on January 18 for allegedly raping a woman on promise of marriage.

The woman, aged around 25, lodged a complaint with Hayathnagar Police.

She accused Morani of raping her on different occasions in Mumbai, with false marriage promises.

The alleged incident took place during 2015, following which, a case was registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 417 (cheating), 376 (rape) 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage) and other relevant sections.

Karim Morani is known for producing films like 'Chennai Express,' 'Dilwale,' 'Ra.One' and others.
