In a bizarre incident, a wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh was reportedly called off after a shortage of ice-cream led to a heated argument between the families of the bride and groom. The two groups reportedly resorted to brick-batting in which three police officers were also injured.
The incident took place in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, during a wedding function when a few members of the groom's family expressed outrage over the shortage of ice-cream, police said.
"It finally led to a clash between both the groups," SP (Rural) Arun Kumar Singh said. Following the clash, the groom's family members called the police and filed a complaint. Seven members of the bride's family were arrested. Angered by the police action, members of the bride's family began to pelt stones on the police and blocked the Raya-Sadabad road, Singh said, adding that one constable and two sub-inspectors were injured in brick-batting.
"Police had to use force to clear blockade on Raya-Sadabad road," he added. FIRs were lodged by both the sides.
Following the incident, the groom and his family left the marriage venue in a huff.
