Rajasthan: Freedom fighter's grandson detained for allegedly hoisting Pakistan flag in Jaipur

A man was detained for allegedly hoisting Pakistan's national flag atop the roof of his house in Mansarovar area of Jaipur. The man identified as Kapil Shastri is reportedly mentally disturbed.

According to locals, he was detained and the flag was seized, police said. A case against Shastri was registered under section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, residence and 295 (insult the religion of any class) of the Indian Penal Code.

"Primary probe reveals that the accused is not mentally fit and said that he picked up the flag a few years ago from a slum area and brought to his house. His grandfather was a freedom fighter," Anil Jaimini, SHO of the Mansarovar police station, said today. He was detained and later released. A medical examination of the accused will be conducted tomorrow, Jaimini added.
