According to emerging reports, Delhi girl Sukriti Gupta has topped the Class 12 CBSE examinations with 99.4% marks.
Gupta, a student of Delhi's Montfort School, scored 497 marks out of 500.
The country's overall pass percentage of girls is 88.58%, while that of boys is 78.85%.
Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram region has the highest pass percentage in the country with 97.61%.
About a million students appeared for CBSE Class 12 exams in 2016. A total of 10,67,900 candidates took a exam - 621,259 boys and 446,641 girls. The exams were held from 1 March to 22 April, 2016.

How to access DigiLocker
Apart from checking results online, candidates can also avail a new CBSE initiative called DigiLocker.
"As a new initiative of CBSE, the digital marksheet will also be available in DigiLocker," the CBSE said in a post on its website.
"Your DigiLocker username and password will be sent via SMS on your mobile number registered with CBSE. You can access your mark sheet as soon as you receive your username and password. DigiLocker (https://digilocker.gov.in) is a Government of India initiative under Digital India," the post read.
