Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal becomes the most expensive Indian bowler in the history of the World Cup. Chahal conceded the most number of runs by an Indian bowler in a World Cup match against England. Chahal conceded 88 runs from the 10 overs he bowled and took 0 wickets. Jagaval Srinath was the previous most expensive Indian bowler as he conceded 87 runs against Australia in 2003 World Cup.

Interestingly, Chahal also holds the record for conceding most runs by an Indian bowler in T20 international match. Chahal conceded 64 runs from 4 overs against South Africa on February 21, 2018. India lost the match against South Africa by 6 wickets and it will be interesting to see if India wins against England today.

England skipper Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision didn’t backfire as England batsmen put up a mammoth 338 runs on board thanks to Jonny Bairstow’s amazing century and Ben Stokes’ explosive 79 runs.

Mohammed Shami took his first five-wicket haul in World Cup but even he leaked a lot of runs during the process. Shami conceded 69 runs from 10 overs he bowled. Jasprit Bumrah was the only bowler with an economy under 5 and he also took a wicket at the end.
