Indian cricketer MS Dhoni’s retirement is being speculated for quite a lot of time. Before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 started in England and Wales it was being said that Dhoni will retire after the tournament ends, but that did not happen. Dhoni has kept everyone wondering about him parting ways with the game, but it is certain that he will retire very soon.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has now backed wicket-keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant as Dhoni’s replacement. Sehwag in an interview to the Times of India has said, “I think Rishabh Pant is the best one (option). He proved himself in Test cricket and now he may prove himself in ODIs and T20Is again. He is the best guy to replace MS Dhoni.”

MS Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2014 and since then BCCI is looking for a replacement in whom they can invest for a longterm. Rishabh Pant can be a perfect candidate for them as he has played 9 Test matches (15 innings) and has scored 696 runs at an average of 49.71, including two centuries and two half-centuries.

In December 2018, during the first Test against Australia, Pant took 11 catches, most by any wicket-keeper in a Test match for India. In the same series, Pant became the first wicket-keeper to score a century for India in a Test match in Australia.
