Former India cricketer and TV commentator Sanjay Manjrekar finds it really unfair that MS Dhoni is bearing all the burnt while the pressure should be on younger players like KL Rahul. Manjrekar feels that players like KL Rahul should be held accountable and not MS Dhoni.
“It is really unfair that the focus is only on Dhoni because, if, at this stage of his career also, there aren't other batsmen around who can help India win matches, then it is not a healthy sign for Indian cricket,” Manjrekar told PTI before India’s game against Bangladesh.
MS Dhoni faced a lot of criticism for play a slow inning against England when the situation required quick scoring. MS Dhoni remained unbeaten at 42 off 31 balls but his innings faced a lot of flak. After Hardik Pandya was dismissed and Kedar Jadhav came in to bat, MS Dhoni started playing slowly and taking singles and doubles while the run rate kept going higher ball by ball.
On the other hand, KL Rahul was dismissed by Chris Woakes for a duck after facing 9 balls. India lost to England by 31 runs as they failed to chase down 337 runs from 50 overs.
