Pacer Ishant Sharma was the first Indian bowler to complete an over with the pink ball, he also became the first Indian to scalp a wicket with this variety of ball and by the end of Bangladesh’s dragging innings, the 31 year old went on to become the first Indian to pick up a five wicket haul at the Eden Gardens on Friday.

Ishant Sharma’s tenth five wicket haul helped the men in blue bundle out the visitors for just 106 on the opening day of the significant second Test in Kolkata.

The 31 year old completed his five wicket haul by sending Nayeem Hasan back to the pavilion in the 30th over of the day. It was his tenth five wicket haul and his second at home. The last time he picked up five wickets in India was against Pakistan in 2007 in what was his debut in the format at home.

Ishant Sharma is now the 13th bowler to grab a five wicket haul with the pink ball. Only New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Pakistan’s Yasir Shah have two five wicket haul to their name in this format.

Imrul Kayes was Ishant’s first wicket of the afternoon, dismissing him with a tricky delivery from around the wickets and trapping his in front of his pad. The pacer finished the first session with two wickets, all thanks to a catch from Wriddhiman Shah.

During the second session, Ishant bowled out Ebadat Hossain before dismissing Mehidy Hasan with a back of a length delivery. The pacer completed his five wicket haul with the dismissal of Naseem.

Talking about the match, Bangladesh were bundled out for a paltry score of 106 in just 31 overs with the pacers taking all ten wickets. While Umesh Yadav concluded with 29/3 in seven overs, Mohammed Shami concluded with 36/2.
