The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 still has time to go before it makes headway, but with the auction looming large, the excitement has already started to build. Around 970 cricketers from all across the globe have made themselves available for the auction in order to take part in the world’s biggest cricket league, out of which only 332 have made it to the final listing.

From Pat Cummins to Aaron Finch to uncapped prodigies like Priyam Garg and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the list is filled with stars. But what has caught the attention of everyone are the names of Praveen Tambe (48) and Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad (14).

While Tambe, who has a base price of Rs 20 Lakh is the oldest player in the auction list and In contrary the 14-year-old Noor Ahmad is the youngest in the IPL auction list.

Noor Ahmad, 14 years and 344 days old, attracted a great deal of attention with his performance in the recent U-19 Asia Cup and the U-19 series against India. He came as an emerging cricketer in the Sphageeza League Afghanistan’s domestic tournament. He was first spotted by national selector Raees Ahmedzai last year.

“I saw him for the first time during U-19 trails. When I become the head coach of U-19 I picked him and he did very well. I so impressed [by] his bowling,” Ahmadzai told Sportstar.

“When I saw him I realised that this guy will soon shine at the highest level. The way he was bowling, especially the wrong one to [the] right-handed batsman, was great to watch,” Ahmadzai said.

Noor was one of the bowlers who was called by Rajasthan Royals for trials and Ahmadzai feels an IPL contract could give a major boost to the teenager.

“IPL auction will give lots of confidence and it will help our team in [the] World Cup,” Ahmadzai concluded.
