India cricket team under Virat Kohli’s leadership continue their winning streak in World Cup 2019 as they beat West Indies by 125 runs. Indian bowlers once again finished the job for Kohli as they defended a low score.

Virat Kohli after winning the toss decided to bat first against West Indies at Old Trafford. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started well as they scored 29 runs together in 6 overs. But Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Kemar Roach after West Indies successfully reviewed their appeal.

Virat Kohli came in and put up a partnership with Rahul before the latter was dismissed by Jason Holder for 48 runs. Rahul fell short of his second World Cup fifty as he looked disappointed while going back to the pavilion.

Virat Kohli scored his fourth consecutive half-century of World Cup 2019 and became the third Indian batsman to do so. Kohli was dismissed by Jason Holder for 72 runs off 82 balls. Vijay Shankar continued his poor streak of performances with the bat as he was dismissed for just 14 runs.

Hardik Pandya came in and did what he is supposed to do as he scored a quick 46 off 38 balls before Cottrell dismissed him. MS Dhoni played another slow inning but picked up at the end as he scored an unbeaten 56 off 61 balls.

In reply, West Indies batting order fell like a pack of cards after opener Chris Gayle was dismissed for just 6 runs by Mohammed Shami. Sunil Ambris who came in place of Andre Russell was the highest run-scorer as he hit 31 runs. Nicholas Pooran scored 28 and Shimron Hetmyer scored 18 runs before they were dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami respectively.

Six out of the ten batsmen dismissed went for a single digit score. West Indies were bundled out for just 143 runs. Mohammed Shami took 4 wickets for India and gave away just 16 runs. Shami took two consecutive four-wicket hauls in this World Cup. Virat Kohli was adjudged the man of the match.
