Infosys, the country's leading IT company, has appointed Salil Parekh as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. His tenure will begins on January 2, 2018. In a regulatory filing, the company gave this information on Saturday. Prior to this, Parekh has been a member of the executive board of the entire group in French multinational professional services and business consulting corporation- Capgemini. Parekh has pioneered computer science and mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
His Bachelor's degree is from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and his subject was Aeronautical Engineering.
“We are delighted to have Salil joining as the CEO & MD of Infosys. He has nearly three decades of global experience in the IT services industry. He has a strong track record of executing business turnarounds and managing very successful acquisitions. The board believes that he is the right person to lead Infosys at this transformative time in our industry,” Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani said in a statement on Saturday.
The company said that UB Pravin Rao has resigned as interim CEO and MD, which will be effective from 2 January 2018. He will continue to work as the Chief Operating Officer and full time director of the company. The post of full-time CEO of Infosys was empty since the resignation of the Vishal Sikka on 18th August.
Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy said, “I am happy that Infosys has appointed Mr Salil Parekh as the CEO. My best wishes to him.”
