In a first, the Future Lifestyle Fashions (FLF), owned by Kishore Biyani has surpassed the country's largest department chain Shoppers Stop in retail sales, according to an Economic Times report.

According to the report, the FLF, which runs Central, Brand Factory and more than a dozen brands including Indigo Nation and Lee Cooper, had sales of Rs 803 crore during the June quarter.

Notably, in 2012, Kishore Biyani's proposal to merge his department store chain Central with Shoppers Stop was rejected, following which he had managed to a find a suitor in the Aditya Birla Group but for his flagship chain Pantaloon.

In comparison to Biyani's FLF, the Shoppers Stop with an eponymous department chain posted sales at Rs 772 crore.
