Sridevi was born in Sivakasi, Chennai and Sridevi who was very close to her parents and her real name was Amma Iyenger Ayyappan. Her father was a lawyer.

Sridevi was just four years old when she made her cinematic debut through Tamil film Thunaivan. After this, she constantly worked in Tamil films.

Sridevi was married to producer Boney Kapoor in 1997 and she was blessed with two daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. Janhvi is soon going to make her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's film Dhadak.

However, her second daughter Khushi Kapoor is currently completing her education and lives with her father Boney and sister Janhvi Kapoor.
