Abhishek Kapoor's cinematic adaptation of Great Expectations, Fitoor, has opened to a not-so-encouraging response at the Box-Office. The film has raked in around Rs 3.61 crore on its opening day, which is way below expectations.
The collections in the morning shows were dismal, however the business did grow in the evening shows at premium multiplexes in the metros. The critic reviews as well as the initial audience feedback is on the negative side and the film might find it difficult to grow over the weekend.
Fitoor got a limited release in around 1,200 screens across India and UTV largely targeted multiplexes. The limited strategy is similar to the one adopted during Barfi and the same might have done wonders had the film been good; however, it might backfire now.
The budget of Fitoor is on the higher side and it will be difficult for the producers to recover the investment even after taking in account revenue from all sources.
