IPL Betting Scam: Arbaaz Khan confesses to betting in IPL for 6 years; Malaika and family tried to stop him

Accused in IPL betting scam, Arbaaz Khan, actor turned filmmaker confesses of being involved in IPL betting for 6 years with a Dawood Ibrahim's Bookie Sonu Jalan. Arbaaz was interrogated by the Thane Crime branch over his involvement in the scam. During interrogation actor Arbaaz Khan accepted that he had placed bets in IPL matches last year and had lost Rs 2.75 crore, say sources. Arbaaz Khan also admited that he was stopped by his ex-wife Malaika Arora Khan and his family for getting involved in the betting scandal. But he didn't listen to them and lost a huge amount of money into Bookie.

Arbaaz Khan was interrogated in front of Sonu Jalan, reports. Jalan was arrested for operating an IPL betting racket by Anti Extortion Cell of Thane Police Crime Branch on May 30. During the investigation, a "connection" between Jalan and Arbaaz has been established, said Senior Inspector Pradeep Sharma, head of the AEC. Bookie SonuJalan's police custody has been extended till June 6 in connection with IPL betting racket case.


After the interrogation was complete, Arbaaz Khan said he will corporate with the police in the investigation. “My statement has been recorded. Police asked whatever they needed in this investigation and I answered them. I will continue to cooperate with them: Arbaaz Khan after giving a statement to Thane Anti-Extortion Cell in connection with a probe of an IPL betting case.”

6 accused have been arrested in cricket betting racket. Arbaaz Khan's name came up in the case during the interrogation of Sonu Jalan. Arbaaz's statement has been recorded. Some new names have cropped up, action will be taken against them, said Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP (Crime).

Arbaaz Khan was summoned by the Thane Police in connection on Friday afternoon. Sonu Jalan was held from Kalyan court in Mumbai where he had come to meet one of the arrested accused in the betting case. Jalan met the person to know about the investigation into the IPL case. When the cops were tipped about his meeting, it alerted the officers and laid a trap outside Kalyan court. During the investigation, it was revealed that Jalan was in contact with Arbaaz Khan. Jalan was first arrested in 2008 for betting during IPL. The police have also found pictures of him with Arbaaz Khan.

As per the TV reports, Arbaaz placed the bet through top bookies. Arbaaz was summoned after cops arrest top bookie.
