Bollywood has always been in the target for its pay disparity as it has always said that Bollywood has discrimination towards not paying equal to male co-stars. The gender pay gap has made long discussions but it never came to the full debate discussions.

In the recent actresses like Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Taapsee Pannu have spoken about the pay gap between men and women in Bollywood. But still, the discussion didn't get so much attention. Recently, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt reached to Jio Mami Film Festival and here they all were asked about the paying discrimination.

A reporter at the Jio MAMI Festival asked the actresses, "You both are at the peak of your stardom. Do you ever have to walk out of a film or compromise because you're getting paid less than your male co-star?"

Kareena said, "There were probably different reasons of walking out of films, but not because of this particular reason." Although, she added, "I'd love to get paid as much as my male co-stars though."

Then the reporter asked Karan about the same as these actresses are being paid as much as their male co-stars in Takht. Karan Johar said, "There is a larger understanding of the economics of movies that sometimes is lesser known by people who don't understand the business and how it functions. Many times, people make sweeping statements about it. I'm the first person who'll always want to pay what is completely right and justified and valid. I've always done it. But I feel there's a larger understanding of the budget versus the verticals that you sell on digital and satellite that are driven by different data."
