On Tuesday, Sidharth Malhotra-Tara Sutaria’s music video Masakali 2.0 was unveiled by T-Series. The song that is a remake of AR Rahman’s song Masakali from Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan starrer Delhi 6 failed to woo the audience as well as the original makers.
The original song was penned Prasoon Joshi, sung by Mohit Chauhan and composed by AR Rahman. After listening to the song the trio took to their social media handle to criticize the song. Taking to Twitter Rahman shared the note which read, “No No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations.” Not just this he also asked his fans to enjoy the original version.
Prasoon Joshi too took to his Twitter handle and wrote that all the songs written in Delhi 6 including Masakali are close to their hearts. He added that the original version has been “insensitively utilized” by the makers of Masakali 2.0.
All songs written for #Delhi6 including #Masakali close to heart, sad to see when original creation of @arrahman @prasoonjoshi_ &singer @_MohitChauhan insensitively utilised. Upto the conscience of @Tseries. Hopefully the fans will stand for originality. @RakeyshOmMehra— Prasoon Joshi (@prasoonjoshi_) April 8, 2020
As soon as they both dropped their response over the new version fans immediately backed them and showed their displeasure for the remake version of Masakali. Meanwhile Mohit Chauhan also retweeted their tweets to show his supports towards them and condemn the new version.
