Kareena Kapoor has said that her next release, the R Balki-directorial Ki and Ka, is not a film that promotes women empowerment but is a commercial entertainer about relationships.
The actress said she believes Ki and Ka is a beautiful story about two people with different ambitions."Ki and Ka is not a documentary. It's a film about relationships and highs and lows of a married couple. It should be taken in that spirit only".

The actress also spoke her mind on the debate surrounding intimate scenes in Bollywood films. She said that R Balki - who has directed veteran actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu, Paresh Rawal among others - would not use an intimate scene in a film unless the plot called for it. She said:"I am very happy that a film like Ki and Ka has been made because this film is really very hatke. Films like Ki and Ka are seldom made in Bollywood as it is a very beautiful concept of two people. It is about a guy who has no ambition and a girl who is full of ambitions, as simple as that. This is a very different kind of a film but at the same time it is fun and has the right amount of energy".

"I don't think kissing scenes in Bollywood are used as selling points. In this film, we play husband and wife; we are talking about the fact that the two of them are married. A married couple will kiss, won't they?"
"This is the year 2016, so let's wake up to reality. R Balki is one director who would never use kissing scenes or intimacy to sell his film. He has worked with great actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, so why would he want to such a thing?"
Ki and Ka, which also stars Arjun Kapoor, is set to release on 1 April 2016.
