Gone in 60 seconds: Man drives off with Harley Davidson worth Rs 6 lakh during test drive

In a bizarre incident, a man went to a Harley Davidson showroom in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills and rode away with the vehicle during the test drive.

The incident occurred when a 25-year-old man said he was planning to buy a 'Street 750' model worth Rs 6 lakh and wanted to test drive it.

The accused, who identified himself as Tahir in the showroom, also agreed to the test ride route, which is a round trip from the showroom to the Jubilee Hills checkpost. However, instead of taking a U-turn in front of the showroom, he sped off straight towards Nagarjuna Circle, leaving the showroom staffer behind who was following him.

Banjara Hills inspector P Murali Krishna said, "He seemed intelligent and was very suave in his appearance, and they (showroom staffers) did not think anything was wrong when they agreed to his request for a test drive."

The shocked showroom employees waited for an hour hoping that their prospective customer would return, but soon realised that he was not coming back.

Following this, the showroom management called the cops and gave them CCTV footage of the offender and lodged a complaint.

The police have registered a case under sections 380 (theft in a building) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC and a search has been launched to nab the offender.
