Couple ties knot at hospital after groom tests positive for coronavirus; pic goes viral

Coronavirus pandemic has impacted the celebrations of many couples who are going to tie the knot this month. Several decided to postpone their wedding while a few decided to tie the knot in the presence of only 5-50 people. But, a couple from Kerala’s Alappuzha district got married at the hospital as the groom tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before his marriage.

The pictures of the Kerala couple went viral on social media. In the pictures, the bride was seen wearing a PPE kit while the groom has opted for traditional wear- a blue shirt and dhoti.

The groom identified as Sarath Mon (28) of Kainakary in Alappuzha, married his fiancé Abhirami (20) from Thekkanaryad region at the COVID ward in the hospital. According to media reports, Sarath, who was working abroad, had tested positive during his wedding preparation and reportedly his mother was also tested positive for COVID. Both of them were shifted to the COVID ward at Alappuzha Medical College. The marriage of the couple was scheduled to be held on April 25. However, the family and relatives decided not to postpone it and decided to hold the ceremony on the scheduled date by taking all precautions.

They sought District Collector’s permission to conduct the wedding ceremony at the hospital.
Soon after tying the knot of Sarath and Abhirami, their wedding pictures and videos of the ceremony went viral on social media.
