Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton win New York primary

News Agencies | Updated on: 11 February 2017, 5:49 IST

Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have managed to script massive victories in New York on Tuesday night.

Winning the New York primary means that both Trump and Hillary are inching closer to their presidential nominations.

According to reports, GOP candidate Trump won New York with 60.1% (467,931) vote share, whereas Democratic candidate Clinton won with 57.6% (960,052) vote share.

Trump's victory means that he can now sweep the state's 95 delegates and win the Republican nomination without going through a contested convention in July.

"We're going to end at a very high level and get a lot more delegates than anybody projected even in their wildest imaginations. We're going to go into the convention I think as the winner." Trump said in a victory speech from Trump Tower.
