Covid-19: China takes a jibe at US with short video on coronavirus, Twitterati retorts [Watch]

China took a jibe at the United States with a video which stated that the Washington did not pay heed to the words of warning from Beijing on the Covid-19 breakout.

The video was shared on Twitter by the Chinese Embassy in France on nThursday and was captioned ‘Once upon a virus’.


The video list the timeline of the outbreak, with cartoon figures depicting China and the US laying the blame on eachother. While China in the video states that it notified about the discovery of a new virus in January, the US did not listen to it.

Furthermore, the video diaplays China announcing its lockdown in January, and the US calling it bestial. It also displays the US accusing China of human rights breach.

The Clip concludes with a snide remarkfrom the United States that they are always veracious “even though we contradict ourselves”.

The video gave rise to a lot of buzz on social media. Several users calling China’s claims of caution ‘fake’ and ‘misleading’.

The Covid-19 outbreak began from China’s Wuhan in December and spread across that world, affecting in excess of 3 million people and claiming over 2,00,000 lives but China has reported fewer cases and deaths that the US, which now has the largest outbreak in the world.

US President Donald Trump has lambasted China for the virus outbreak. Sharpening his eloquence on Thursday, The US President stated that his trade deal with China was now of secondary importance to the pandemic and threatened new sanctions on China.

The attack on China exhibit Donald Trump’s growing vexation with China over the coronavirus pandemic, which has cost thousands of lives in the US alone.
